CAELinux 2010 is based on the recent Ubuntu 10.04 LTS 64bit distribution and contains a unique suite of open source simulation tools like Salome_Meca 2010, Code-Aster 10.1, Code-Saturne 2.0, OpenFOAM 1.7, Elmer 5.5 and many others.
CAELinux 2010 represents a complete rebuild of the distribution with up-to-date software for a better support of modern hardware and a significantly enhanced ease of use, and we hope that you will enjoy it. This release is only available in the form of an liveDVD ISO image that can be burned on a DVD or installed on a USB key for "mobile" use and testing and then installed on hard-disk for best performance.
The features / programs included in CAELinux 2010 distribution are the following:
- LiveDVD distribution based on Ubuntu 10.04 LTS 64 bit with Kernel 2.6.32-24
- Runs directly from the DVD or from USB key without any installation
- Optional installation to hard disk with the simple Ubuntu installer
- Dedicated to CAE , scientific computing and mathematical modelling with emphasis on finite element simulation and computational fluid dynamics
- Includes the integrated 3D pre-/ post / FE solver package SALOME_MECA 2010 (GPL, developped by EDF, France) which represents the fusion of Salome v5.1.3 GUI and Code-Aster STA10.1 finite element solver (updated, GPL)
- Offers a complete solution for CFD with OpenFOAM 1.7 , Gerris and Code-Saturne 2.0 solvers
- Contains several 2D & 3D CAD/pre/post packages: Paraview, OpenDX, EnGrid 1.2, Elmer GUI, Netgen, Tetgen, GMSH v2, Salome v.5.1.3 & QCad
- Includes other simulation softwares for multiphysics simulation: Elmer v5.5 , Calculix v2.1, Impact, MBDyn, Dynela, Fenics
- Offers several scientific tools like GNU Octave (+ QtOctave GUI ), R & Rkward, Scilab, wxMaxima, Scipy, Latex and a full set of developpement tools / compilers.
